The Beaverhead County Extension office is staffed by one full-time Agricultural/4-H Agent and one administrative assistant. The Beaverhead County Extension Service Staff is dedicated to providing the citizens of Beaverhead County with research based knowledge and information to strengthen the social, economic and environmental well-being of individuals, families and communities. Our role is to extend practical knowledge to the public about agriculture and natural resources; youth development; community development; and family and consumer sciences.

The Beaverhead County Extension office is your resource for:

  • Yard and Garden Questions
  • Noxious Weed Identification and Recommendations
  • Plant Identification and Disease Diagnosis
  • Insect and Spider Identification
  • DNRC Conservation Seedlings

We also provide services in:

  • Soil Testing
  • Forage Nitrate and Analysis Testing
  • Commercial Feed and Fertilizer Testing
  • Weed Free Hay Certifications
  • Private Pesticide Applicator Licensing and Training
  • On-site Consultations

The MSU Beaverhead County Extension office is your connection to the 4-H program. The 4-H program runs October 1 through September 30. To be a 4-H member, a youth must be 8 years old on October 1 of the 4-H year. They are eligible to enroll in over 200 educational projects. Any youth who is 5 years old on October 1 of the 4-H year is able to be a Cloverbud. The Beaverhead County 4-H program encompasses 230 youth in 11 organized clubs. We utilize a network of 80 adult volunteers to deliver 4-H programming to the youth of Beaverhead County. Please call the Beaverhead County Extension Office if you have any questions about our 4-H program.

August 10th deadline for livestock members:

Attached you will find the livestock guidelines/media release as one of the requirements needed and required by the August 10th deadline. If you need a copy, please stop by the Extension office. This document REQUIRES signatures please.

  • Livestock registrations
  • Livestock Guidelines (only for those selling their animal)
  • Livestock Record books – up to date! This includes project journal and financials.
  • Livestock Photos … emailed to Jessica at jessica.murray4@montana.edu

Photos MUST be submitted in order to show & sell at the fair. There are no exceptions! Members need to be in official dress.
Photos cannot be cropped/altered before submission.

You may provide a small description with your photo. Must be 100 words or less.

This is your chance to explain a little about your market animal…

Suggestions: Name? Club? Years in 4-H? What’s your animals’ name? What breed? Who was the breeder? Age of animal? Weight (if you know)?

This is NOT required but could be helpful when selling your animal.

August 10th deadline for 4H building project members: 

If you happen to have 4-H building projects, entries are due August 10th too.
